My update and advice to job seekers

I’ve been slow on my posting, the reason for that is that I was busy working. Oh yes I forgot to mention I did found a job and now I am official marketing consultant. A couple of people asked me why it took me so long to land one (apparently they think highly of me). The answer is simple I wasn’t looking just for any marketing job. I had my set of criteria of what job to take. If you wondering here they are:
  • I have to be passionate about the job, only that way I can put my 100% and I will actually like being in the office
  • The job should be challenging, I am dedicated to constant learning and easy job just won’t do it
  • The company have to look good on my resume. Through my job search I understood that a lot of companies put emphasis on the brand name company in your resume. While I disagree with such approach, I also know that I have to play by the rules.
Even though, my negotiation position was pretty weak due to little experience and fact that nobody knows my beloved school in Toronto – I wasn’t willing to accept anything else. That’s why this post is advice to job seekers like me, stand up for your principles and don’t sell yourself short. If your personal brand has value smart people will buy it.
