Filtering the days

With this new job I’ve been traveling and “blogging on the go” didn’t really work out. Nevertheless, as someone addicted to blogging for the past couple of days I’ve been constantly filtering everything I see. Therefore a couple of things:
  • Your contact information – for G-d’s sake put it everywhere. I’ve been prospecting Realtors and I am shocked to see how many of them have a page online without email address or phone number. How do you expect people to reach you? Put your contact info on every single piece of communication – make it easy for me to contact you.
  • Maintain short and long term balance. I’ve been working among sales people who seem to be annoyed by my comprehensive marketing approach to sales. I get phrases like that “You can prospect all you want, but what counts is how you close those sales.” I totally agree with this phrase. However, I think that closing the sale is the final step in selling. You have to also dedicate time to plan for what are you going to do when you saturate your market or on how to find best type of customers. Bottom execute, but don’t forget about the strategy.
  • Don’t leave money on the table. I am amazed by how heavily sales people discount their products just to get a client in. Discounting is good, but if you do it all the time then there is some problem with the value your product provides. You should change the product or find clients who can pay for it – otherwise you are just slowly pushing yourself to lower and lower profit margins.

Another thing that went through my “blogging filter” is what I don’t like about working in corporate environment – but it deserves a separate post, coming soon….
